my photographic year 2012

2012 has been a wonderful year for me, not only from the photographical perception. I have had such good times with my wonderful people, traveled & saw a lot of beautiful places in the world and achieved many things I wanted to do.

I started the year with my 52 weeks project (which actually should have been finished by the end of the year). I thought it would be a good idea to start uploading continuous and improve my photography. I think it really did help me and I'm happy that I did it!

Here's my first photo of 2012 & my last:

I'm also very happy and proud of how I upgraded my equipment this year. Previously I photographed with my first DSLR, the Canon EOS 1000D and a Tamron 18-200mm lens. I worked very hard to save up money for buying a new camera, but in May I was able to satisfy my biggest wish: Buying the Canon EOS 5D Mark II! I'm so so so incredibly in love with this camera and I don't regret one penny I spent on it. It works perfectly with the Canon 50mm 1.4 and Canon 28-135mm lenses I also bought.
I truly can say that buying this camera was one of the greatest moments of 2012 for me!

If you're interested, here's the first conceptual photo I did with the 5D Mk II (one day after I bought it):

Moreover 2012 has been a year full of travelling for me. I began the year in Seville, Spain, where I celebrated New Year's Eve with my parents.

In June I went on a class trip to Pula in Croatia. The weather was incredibly good and we had a lot of fun. This photo is also from there:

In August I went to Mallorca with my good friends. We had our own little apartment there and cooked together, went to the beach and partied a lot :)
This is a friend of mine on the cliffs of Cala Ratjada:

The next photo was taken on a big mountain in the Algarve, where I was in October. It was an incredible view from up there.

I've seen a lot of places last year and I hope I can keep this for the next year!

All in all I think I've grown a lot as a photographer in 2012!
I surely improved my skills photographically and in matters of editing.
Moreover I started to make money with my photography: I sold prints and did some client shoots.
I also had my first experiences in shooting in a studio and I want to expand that in 2013.
Then I applied for an exhibition and will display 8 of my photos as large prints in January.

I think that I can be pleased with my achievements this past year and I hope 2013 will be as least as good as 2012!

So, I wish you all a good year and may all your dreams and wishes for 2013 become true!

Yours, Jenny
