little paper wings.

week 44 – 52.

I know I have been kind of "lazy" with my 52 weeks project lately. I was very busy at school and work, and I had no time for photographing. I'm also kind of sad that the year is almost over and I'm 8 weeks behind. But for now I had so much stress within the last weeks that I don't want to urge myself to finish this project as soon as possible. I will do my best to finish it soon, but I want to make these pictures because I want to make them and not because I have to. We'll see.

Now, today was a  good day! Christmas is fortunately over, I already went to work the last time for this year and I still have one week of school holidays. I was in the mood to create something and also had a good concept in my mind. So I grabbed my camera today and these papercranes I already made yesterday evening. I'm kind of happy with the result and I really had fun editing this. :)

In the following you can see some other photos from today's shooting.

Finally I wanna wish you all a wonderful new years eve! :)

Inspiration: Sophia Alexis

This will be the first post in the rubric 'Inspiration' where I will write about other photographers, who inspired me a lot or just who deserve it to be published because they do amazing work.

Before writing this I thought starting directly with such an amazing artist like Sophia Alexis may be wrong, because then I hardly can grow in this category.
But soon I decided that Sophia will be just the right person to start with, because she represents in a very good way what I understand of a good and inspiring artist. She's just the perfect example!

Sophia, who's by the way only 16 years old, comes from Norway. That may be one of the reasons why her work is so breathtaking, too. Her great talent links up with the wonderful landscapes existing in Norway. And Sophia truly knows how to capture these landscapes in the right way. Many of her photos include amazing sunsets and light conditions.

Sophia's work is amazing in so many ways! One of the things I like about her the most is that she makes photos that are captivating and tell a story and have however a very clear structure and do not seem overloaded at the same time.

At the moment Sophia is right in the middle of her project 365. It's amazing what she's achieved so far and how she's developing even more. I followed Sophia's work quite from the beginning of her project and watched her rise and become a little better every single day.

I can hardly imagine how stressful it is to create one photo a day - but nevertheless she has a very elaborated concept every day she uploads. Therefore she has my entire respect!

In the end I just have to say one more thing:
Sophia, you're one of the most amazing artists i know by far and I think I speak with the voice of many people when I say please never stop creating such wonderful work!

Project 52

from the highest point,
the world seems so small.

I'm not quite sure whether some of you know, but I'm doing a 52 weeks project. I started right at the beginning of 2012, so I'm now in week 41 actually. I'm a little behind, but that's because of school and work, which was both very busy in the past few weeks. I also was en route the whole holidays, but I'm trying to catch up as soon as possible. :)

So this is this weeks photograph:

This was taken on top of an (i think) 1,400 metres high mountain in the south of Portugal. I don't remember the name really, but it was near Monchique.

We had such a beautiful view from up there! We could see right until the coast, which was about 50 km away from there. We also saw the little city where we stayed and the dockside, which was right outside from our hotel.

This shot was originally not planned to be a conceptual photo. But I began editing some of our holiday photos and found this one here in upright format. Because I didn't like that for this photo, I searched for other pictures I took similar to this and fortunately found two photos that fitted to this one, so I expanded it to a square crop, which I like so much more than the format it was before.

Well, actually this is not very complex or interesting, but I like it very much. It just expresses the feeling of freedom and carefreeness I had standing up the, on the highest point, with no one around me but the wind and this breathtaking view over the land. It was so amazing! :)
